Music Video of The Day: Cavalera Trilogy Part 1: Sepultura

Hello my readers finally got some free time on my hands and I must say today was amazing with the sunny weather which is odd, because I usually prefer the cold. Any who for next couple of days I'm gonna take you all on this journey of amazement! First stop is in the country of Brazil in 1985. It's end of the horrible dictatorship that's been around since 1964. Democracy has came into it and along with it: Metal. Right after the change musicians flooded into the country since they were banned in past. Which started a rock festival that would be titled the largest in the world: Rock In Rio. This would be held in Rio de Janero where in the first festival 1.5 million people attended. Major international bands and local Brazian bands would play at this intense festival of music armageddon. Such as: Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy, Queen, Scorpions, Rod Stewart. Here's some other interesting facts as well:
First Rock In Rio

  • The "City of Rock", the place where the event was held (which was built for the festival) covered an area of 250,000 m² (around 2.7 million square feet)
  • 1,600,000 liters of beverages were served, using 4 million plastic cups.
  • 900,000 hamburgers.
  • 500,000 pizza slices.
  • McDonalds sold 58,000 hamburgers in a single day, which was a Guinness World Record.
Well that was a little history lesson about that for you now onto the band! After the death of their father and dropping out of High School Max and Igor Cavalera sought out a career in music together. They didn't had much money due to their family's financial strain. But, still the Cavalera brothers were able to create a band that would be an idol of Brazilian Trash Metal : Sepultura (Portuguese for grave). After releasing their first two albums which didn't sell very well their third Beneath The Remains was where they would become noticed worldwide and even ended up performing at Rock In Rio II.

Sepultura was on fire with their head thrashing brutality and brought a tribal sound to the metal genre which was new and at first questioned if it was considered metal or not.
As the years continued the band even headed out to Amazon to see the Xavante tribes to record one of their hit albums: Roots. This where they truly achieved that tribal sound while maintaining their amazing metal image.

While on tour in support for Roots Sepultura hit a major bump in the road. During a show lead-singer/rhythm guitarist Max Cavelara abruptly left the concert after hearing the news of his grandson's murder which left the band alone with guitarist Andreas Kisser having to take over vocals. Although this wasn't exactly what made Max leave. After the release of Roots the band (excluding Max) came to the conclusion to fire their manager who just happened to be Max's wife. This angered him and caused him to leave the band and tensions raised high between the Cavalera brothers which caused little communication between the two and they wouldn't even play together for 10 years. But, thats for another time! Hope you enjoyed the first part in my little trilogy. Peace.

Ignorance is NOT Bliss

Today and my previous post made me wonder about one of the dumbest sayings I've ever heard in my life "Ignorance Is Bliss". I always hated that saying and saw no purpose in it. This idea of living by "Ignorance Is Bliss" is a cowardice way to live your life it states that your too weak to accept the truth whether or not it affects your mental and emotional state. There are darks secrets in this world that people either deny or state they never heard of it such as: The Armenian Genocide which occurred on April 24, 1915 where one and a half million Aermenians lost their lives and I know very little people who actually have heard of this tragic event.

Heres a case scenario if you still live by ignorance is bliss: Imagine a hermit living on an island with no television or radio or means of communication with the outside world. A category 5 cyclone is bearing down on the island and everyone else leaves because they know it would be dangerous to remain, but the old man stays on unaware of what is coming. Would you call this ignorance bliss? Well he is happy because he doesn't know there is anything to worry about, but its only a matter of time when he will have some serious problems.

In my life I learned some things about my friends, my family and in some cases myself. They hurt my feelings and I never thought that person the same again. But I much rather live with some sorrow with the truth than living a happy life with lies. And if you disagree then I recommend some growing up the world isn't a perfect place and it's up to how we react to things whether or not if it's a happy life. Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Heaven Shall Burn

Of course it's expected that Europe gives birth to some of the greatest bands whether it's metal or some other genre. This particular video however has a more political message and actually sends a message where as some of the videos I posted in previous post didn't really have much of a point behind it. With suburb animation with of course the amazing music behind it makes this one of my absolute favorites.

Some people might be shock with the content of this video thinking it's something only seen in nightmares. But there has been real life events portrayed like this such as children being forced into the military before their even 10. It's amazing on what horrors can go on in this world which makes me question if there's hope for humanity. Oh one last thing about these guys their band isn't actually anti-christian if that was the conclusion you jumped to.
In a interview the band stated this about the idea behind their name

"It’s not that we’re huge Marduk fans, but we liked the name. It sounds a bit provoking and so people ask us again and again for the meaning behind our name. It has been like that since the very beginning. We use the term heaven as a metaphor for some kind of a fake paradise that people create in their heads. Some people close their eyes and don’t see the truth surrounding them. So this kind of fake heaven should burn. Some people might think that our name is an anti-religious statement, but it isn’t."

Enjoy.

Well....this sucks hardcore doesn't it?

Today made me a saaaad panda...I woke up barely being able to get out of bed. So I then thought to myself if I can't get out of bed then clearly I can't go to band practice. So I spent most of the day home watching documentaries and Beavis and Butthead. Then I get a phone call from my buddy who told me well..I'm out of the band :( . Well so much for the band thing and we even had another show this friday great...Well I guess on the plus side I'm free on saturdays now! Now I best be heading off to bed I got a stupid bio test to study for tomorrow! Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Adversary

Ahhhh! That's my first impression....Both in anger and happiness. The only thing that pissed me off about these guys is that they aren't very known in the metal world. They only have one type of merchandise which is a freaking sticker. While this is happening doo doo bands like BMTH are touring the world spreading their virus of scene kid music making the world a much dumber place. For the metalheads watching this spread the word about these guys! They deserve some recognition for their music that never gets old, so enjoy it dammit!

Music Video of The Day: Animals As Leaders

Sorry for the terrible delay folks it's been one hell of a week and next week isn't gonna be any better... Well any who I been listening to some instrumental bands lately and my friend Victor told me about these guys and SWEET JESUS! This trio of bad-asses know how to blow you away with their never ending riffs and sweeps of amazingness. Both guitarist use 8-string guitars which is beyond what I can even attempt. I only gone as far as a 7-string guitar and 6-string bass which both were very tedious and I'm not planning on upgrading to them any time soon so enjoy this masterpiece that will most likely give you a tumor!

Music Video of The Day: Soundgarden

Gotta love the grunge scene even though it was short lived. It had angst-filled lyrics and proved that wearing hobo clothing is awesome! It's kinda sad that most grunge bands today have band mates that either: OD, committed suicide, became media whores, or the bands just broke up and never got back together. Luckily there are some alive today like these guys since they finally got back together in 2010.

I think of them as the best band in the grunge scene. I would say Alice in Chains but they don't have same sound or lead singer anymore. The guy OD yet he died on the same day as Kurt Cobain only it was in 2002. So some interesting facts about these guys:

After the break-up of Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell went off to start Audioslave with instrumentalists of Rage Against The Machine, which ended in 2007 sadly. Although he released three albums with his solo project that I give a thumbs up. Oh one last thing Metalocalypse and Dethklok lead singer Brendan Small directed this music video so watch it!...Don't you dare close this post without watching the vid...I'll find you...So Enjoy! :D

Spring Break?

Pfft more like....Doo Doo Break?....Okay I got nothing, but it sure doesn't feel like spring not that I'm complaining or anything I love the cold. Along with the cold I'm loving this break very much! Before mom left to stay at the hospital with Chelsey she got me a stockpile of food I swear she thinks I'm gonna die.. She got me: 2 Hungry Man Dinners, 3 Boxes of Hot Pockets, Sandwich Meat, 10 pack burrtios, 2 bags of chips, and a 12 pack of Mountain Dew. Holy crap! If I die during this break I'll die happy..

Day one of this break: KresLynn came over at like 8 in the morning, I was very happy about that. It was just the two of us till we went on our date with Affy, Celo, Steven, and Lynaya to Brick Oven. With that we got to embarrass Lynaya by telling our waiter it was her Birthday!

Day Two:
  • Woke up at 12
  • Played some GTA IV and Bad Company 2
  • Watch the series finale of King of the Hill
  • Hung out with Nick and Kaniho
  • Pre-ordered Gears of War 3
  • Got the new Obscura and Amon Amarth albums
  • Talk to her of course
Well that's what I've done so far not a whole lot but I love not having to do a whole lot of homework. Peace.

Music Video of The Day: The Black Dahlia Murder

Ah who knew a band that name themselves after the famous unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short "Black Dahlia" can be so amazing? Saw these guys at The Venue along with Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust, and Trap Them. Which I thought was a special event that because I absolutely loved EVERY band that played there. I'm saying that cause most of the concerts I've been to there's usually a band or two (usually the opening ones) that I'm iffy about. But these guys wow! They have some of the most intense songs ever created. They have these lyrics that would have a Black Metal element to, but their some of the funniest guys you'll ever meet so enjoy! Oh one last thing one interesting fact about these guys: All of the bandmates are neighbors isn't that awesome? I wish my band was like that..

Farewell Smokey From V.I.C.

*sigh* Today was good since it was the last day before the break but it was also a sad one. It was Danny's last band practice with us before he moves to Arizona tomorrow and won't be back for a year.. So were down one member but we have three vocalists: one guy and two girls geez! But, now what are we gonna do without a drummer?

He's irreplaceable and brought a laid back image but knew how to blast some badass beats. So for our one last jam session with him (which lasted a good four hours) we played everything he helped create with V.I.C. So Danny I bid you farewell and we can't wait to see you next year it's gonna be a long year without ya!

Music Video of The Day: Evergreen Terrace

I been in a hardcore/punkish mood today with mainly these guys in particular. This music video has that anarchy vibe with amazing vocals although I'm iffy about punk because it's nothing but repetitive power chords. Which can be annoying if your more into the technical skills. Interesting fact about these guys is that they were inspired for the band name from the Simpsons. (742 Evergreen Terrace, get it?) Enjoy!

OJH With A Side of Hatred

Today was great I had no homework so celebrate this rare occasion I spent it with my good buddy Affy. First we went to the gas station and bought some munchies woo! Then after we went on a walk for a while and stopped by our old junior high. Luckily the doors were still open so went around in the hallways and I got that sick feeling in my gut. I hated that place with every fiber of my being.

I loathe every day being there and never wanted it to end so badly. The school was full of preppy pricks, stereotypical douche bags, beaners, and white trash kids..I hated most of them so very much and there were few people that I can call a friend. Kinda like UCAS but not nearly as bad. But, along with the many bad memories I did have some good times: Metal/Wood Shop, Band, Honors English, and Drawing.

Music Video of The Day: Alexisonfire

ooh Post-Hardcore me likey..I stumbled upon these guys last year and can't get enough of them of course. The music video is pretty tight with it chinese theme which I don't know how it relates to the song whatsoever..Interesting fact: These guys are from Canada which is pretty good and help makes up for the doo doo music that comes from there (Justin Bieber) Well that's all to it enjoy!

Day 30: Finally!

Ha yes! I started this stupid thing on Jan 19th and it's March 14th wow talk about major delay..Well for my last moment (doo doo topic). I can think of today's moment. I got a sweet new desk today! My old one was a ghetto built that would wobble every time I printed out a paper. It made me realize how amazing my family is because it was my grandparents old desk and being the weakling that I am Nate took the time to help me move it.

Then after getting all of my stuff set up I talked to KresLynn for a while (as usual). Since this week is spring break her and I already made plans and were going to some date thing with Steven, Lynaya, Affy and Marcelo. Ha well that was my last day of this crap so I'll finally get to post about other things woo! Bedtime. Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Killswitch Engage

Ah Killwitch...With an amazing blackie for a lead vocalist who I shook hands with and about crapped myself..Their special to me in particular because they were my first concert and you can't get anything better than that. It was hard to pick which video to post since I love them all but I picked this one. Because it stood out more than the others and it had some what of a story line to it and animated in claymation. Enjoy!

Day 29: Aspirations of A Metalhead

My main aspiration is what most people desire which is self definition. I wanna find out what I'm meant to do in life whether it's working with books or maybe researching the human psyche. I want to go out into the world preferably Japan, Germany, The U.K., Spain, France, or Russia. Because I believe learning about other cultures and the way others think makes you more open minded. Which is too much to ask for where I am now this place lacks diversity but, what do I expect? Orem's population is roughly 90% percent white if not more and Nina if your reading this yea I would know that!

But maybe it's the close mindedness of this place that made me open to other ideas and views that most people can't stand for. Either way I like the ideas of the outside world much better than here. Well tomorrow is my last "Day" I better make it good! Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Deftones

I'm still pretty new to these guys. I first heard of them when they were doing the Blackdiamondskye tour with Mastodon and Alice in Chains sadly they didn't come to Utah surprise surprise... You can't help but love Chino's vocals he is quite the talent. Interesting fact about him: he contributed to Whitechapel's A New Era of Corruption on the track Reprogrammed To Hate. Enjoy.

Music Video of The Day: Soilwork

Ah one of the awesome bands to come out of the Gothenburg Scene! It didn't take me long to get hooked on these guys with their melodic sound and energy. An interesting note here is that you can notice the guys that appear to be picking on Soilwork are In Flames. They did this video together since their both from the same area and happen to be close buddies. So enjoy!

Day 28 Something I Miss

There are so many things I wish were still around:
  1. Simplicity in my Life
  2. Trusting some friends without those nagging doubts in the back of your head
  3. Being able to get straight A's without actually putting any form of effort
  4. My friends before they became: whores, jocks, stoners, emos, and hipsters
  5. A person I could call a father
  6. Dio (R.I.P) seriously why does this pioneer in metal die and that little shit Justin Bieber gets to be a tool in the music industry?
  7. Real Music
I miss these things very much and I know as I get older I'll end up losing even more things that I'll miss but, that's just one of the very annoying things about life.

Music Video of The Day: As I Lay Dying

I been listening to these guys all day so I decided to put them in my music video of the day series. At first I was a little skeptical about them but like a malignant brain tumor it grew on me and I can't get it out of my head! I thought it was kind of a interesting fact that all of the members are Christians yet the lyrics aren't really christian. Another one is that their major influence was In Flames which gain my out most respect seeing that In Flames is one of the greatest bands to ever exist. So enjoy!

Day 27 My Sanctuary

My favorite places? Are you meaning physically or mentally? To answer both it's on the stage. I found that out back in Jr High when I was a band geek and how I felt like nothing can stop me as long as I keep playing. But, sadly UCAS has kept me away from that due to it's lack of a music program..Till I played my first real show at Death Star and to me it was a form of a natural high. I was in control of my emotions and the drug was four strings and 20 frets that shook the room. I day dream all the time of playing in a giant stadium with crowds farther than the eye I can see and I'm usually playing with Opeth or Mastodon.

I wish my life career would be a musician. Because out of all the ideas I thought of just being on stage playing my heart out and given the opportunity to state my opinions in music. But I don't when or let alone how I would even pull it off or what my family or anyone else would think about it.

Music Video of The Day: The Agonist

Who says only guys can make kick ass metal? Retards of course! Which reminds me I love the vocalist of this band! She can do some of the sweetest growls and screams with amazing clean vocals on the side. She even competed in Canadian Idol (ha Canadians...). They make bands like BMTH, Suicide Silence and Bullet For My Valentine (Queer Boy For My Anus is more like it) look like a bunch of pansies well hell any true metal band does those guys are DOO DOO! Well enjoy!

Day 26: F.E.A.R.

Ha I'm afraid of nothing! Na what am I saying I get pretty frightened actually. My biggest fears are extreme heights and abandonment. Usually if I'm stuck in a situation that either of the two are applied I typically shut down. I mean quite a bit of my life has been full of abandonment and I try my hardest to be a good friend with everyone. I'm scared that after High School I'll lose some or all of my friends and that I would have to start from scratch again..Which in reality we do lose touch with friends and not see or talk to them again, but that's what Facebook is for right?

Heights, well those just plain scare the tacos out of me! But, this only happens when I'm somewhere up high without any form of a harness or something to keep from me from falling. So I can ride roller-coasters and stuff like that. But say I'm up high in the mountains or a canyon it will make me faint from looking down...

Well that's my fear post I'm sure it has frightened you very much! :p Next Post.

Next post.

Music Video of The Day: Solution .45

Christian Älvestam is a freaking beast! One of the greatest vocalist to roam in the metal world. One minute he lashes out with intense guttural vocals that would make you go into fetal position. Then the next he has these heavenly clean vocals!  Check it out it will make you think differently about metal vocalists.

Day 25: First?

What the poop does that mean? Am I suppose to have this hippy abstract theory that makes brain matter drip from your ears? Well I don't so there...

Well the first thing to come to mind about "First" all I can think of is my first kiss and first concert which both were pretty fanfreakingtastic I must say....Well this sucks I can't think of many "First" related topics since I probably already posted about them. Pfft this "day" was doo doo so I'll change topics. Rumors, don't ya just hate them? Something used by attention whores who's only motivation is to make someone's life turn for the worst. Our school is crawling with them actually and I can't stand a single one of them, hell I can't tolerate most of the kids at UCAS.. Well tomorrow will be better I promise. Peace.

Day 24: What Makes Me Cry?

hahahahahaha I love this pic..

Looking at your face for one! Ha! Kidding you can stop crying now... Okay I'm being serious here. What really makes me cry? Lies, deceit, death of a love one, being alone, and the feeling of failure (I been doing great at that lately). But, like in my previous post I do what makes me feel better. It's kinda sick to say but when I'm down in the dumps I look at the bad things in life and I mock them. I make a laugh out of it and some how it makes me feel better. Yes I'm crazy but then again your crazy for reading this. Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Protest The Hero

Ah mathcore..It's good for the soul ya know? With it's constant change in beats will make your brain implode for just trying to follow it. These guys kinda remind me of  Dream Theater in a sense due to the fact that everyone is freaking jesus when it comes to skill and if you play an instrument (like me). You'll hate yourself because you'll feel like your getting nowhere in life. The reason is that you know deep inside you won't ever be as good as these guys! Luckily I know someone who shares the same love for these guys like me (Jimmy). So were hopefully gonna go see them next month. Enjoy!

Day 23: Few things that can soothe the beast

Hmm what makes me feel better? Well I think of a few things. Being alone with a book or a new album that I been waiting for months for. I know I have quite a bit of anger inside me but, I luckily have my close friends and my music to get me over my personal conflicts. I could of turn out a lot worse than some other people but I chose a more positive outlet for my anger.

You thought this would be longer huh? Well like I said there's a few things that make me feel better ha! Peace.

Music Video of The Day: Cake

When I listen to this I feel like I'm a Nascar driver with the typical bad ass explosions in the background. So take a minute or two to check this out!

Music Video of The Day: Bleeding Through

Now this is one of those adrenaline rushing bands that will make you smash someone's face against concrete! I went and saw these guys last year when Sleeping Giant toured with them. I was all over the place and man I gotta say the girl that does keyboards for them is sooo cute :) and the lead singer kinda looks like Daniel Tosh the comedian o.o (Tosh.0) So enjoy and check out their other stuff it's so amazing!

Day 22 Anger is My Fuel

Skipping Day 21 because I don't feel like posting a "moment". I bet it's no surprise to people that there is many things that piss me off like your typical skater kid or that raving, hello kitty, scene whore. But on a more serious matter there are two things that piss me off more than anything

1) Any form of abuse towards an animal.
Seriously if I catch anyone doing any harmful behavior towards their pet or anyone else's I wont hesitate to rip your throat out and feed it to Toby. Which reminds me of a incident that happened today. So Nick and I were walking back to his place from Winco. We come unto this complex and it was at least 25-30 degrees. We find this poor puppy tied to a fence in front of one of the houses. The little guy was at least half of Toby's size, had very little fur and was shivering! I look inside the house to find the owner just sitting on the couch and she saw us petting the dog.

She came outside and asked, "What are you doing to my dog?". Then I said to her, "Mame do you realize it's freezing out here and your dog clearly can't handle it?" Her lame excuse was "Well I have company for a party so I didn't want her to be a disturbance." Then I started getting even more angry: "So that's a good enough excuse to tie your dog to a fence out here where it's freezing?" Then the poor excuse of a living being said that it's none of my business and that I should leave. Then I happily responded "Listen you dumb bitch I'll have no problem calling the cops about this. So you either take it inside or I'll have to crash your party." The idiot quietly picked up the little dog and took it back inside. So you need stand up for the little friends that can't defend themselves.

2)When I'm lied to.
Trust is one of the the most important things you can ever give to someone. Then it's up to them whether or not to respect it and not lie. When you lie to me you know I'll never let it go. My life has revolved around lies enough times to make me blow my brains out. You won't ever forget that particular lie either. I will most of the time remind you how you lied to me and how I can never trust you again. It's what I do to my dad, nick, and others who committed the act of lying.

Now if it's one of those little white lies I usually brush it off because it's nothing compared to what I'm talking about. Like if it's a lie that has gone for 8 years (dad) or any form of backstabbing knowing that I would be beyond hurt and perhaps not even recover from it (nick). So I don't think I'm asking for much when I'm just simpling asking you not to lie to me.

Well that was fun talking about because I think it's healthy to vent about what makes us angry but in a positive matter of course. Next Post.

Day 20 This Month (February)

Affy and I took Pics of Chelsey failing at cooking she found out oil splatters when boiled...

What I got KresLynn for her Birthday :)

Got to sit in on a rat dissection in Web's Biology

My First show at an actual venue (Deathstar)

Love the graffiti art

One of the bands that we opened with. They go by Hooga and they put a whole new level of bad ass. My neck had relentless kinks after that show but everyone loved us. The other bands are planning on getting us involved in on more shows too.
Hmm what to do at three in the morning....

Put in over 10 hours of Final Fantasy XIII

Music Video of The Day: Serj Tankian

One of my favorite singers of all time! I respect this man for his skills and philosophies on politics. He was one of the two singers from System of A Down (who are doing a reunion tour by the way). This is a remix off of his latest solo album Imperfect Harmonies and features Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave). I hope you enjoy this video because I sure do and I have listened to it a good 50 or so times. (Not kidding)

100

Woo my 100th post! Didn't think I would still be doing this. In all honestly because I still feel kinda new to blogging and I don't know any other guys who even blog since everyone I know who blogs is a girl o.o.... I still have to thank my amazing friend Nina for getting me started on blogging because I probably wouldn't care till she talked to me about it. Now I love posting just about anything on my mind whether it's negative or positive. I even go back once in a while and read previous posts and I still remember how I felt those days.

So I plan on hopefully posting 1288378197391273891273 more posts and I even feel like getting a journal to write along the side. I also wanna try new stuff to make my blog more interesting like starting tonight I'm gonna post "Music video of the day" which is pretty self explanatory I'm gonna go around looking up videos (mostly youtube) and find all of my favorite music videos. Which I hope I have enough to go on for a while. I also wanna thank my readers for taking the time for reading my posts and for giving me their reflection on them. So I hope you all keep reading my blog and this peruviano thanks you. Peace.

Day 19 Regrets “If Only. Those must be the two saddest words in the world.”

Wow it's been two weeks sorry fellow readers (mostly Nina). I decided to skip day 18 because I already did a post about my favorite memory which happens to be my favorite. There's a long line of list of things I've regretted from little things like not studying for a quiz to forgiving people for the harm they've done to me or unto others. But when I think about regrets I think of quotes like these:

“I would much rather have regrets about not doing what people said, than regretting not doing what my heart led me to and wondering what life had been like if I'd just been myself.”- Brittany Renée

“I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person.” -Rita Mero

Which is true I have become a stronger person through some experiences. So in a weird I'm kinda pleased with going through what I did and hopefully others can learn from that.
